Australia is known all around the world as the The Land Down Under. Not only is it located ‘down under’, but it’s also far away from most other parts of the world. This remoteness is one of the reasons why it remains one of the worlds most beautiful natural destinations.
Most travel or holiday trips to Australia will start out from the city of Sydney. This is the largest city in Australia, and has a great mix of natural beauty, big city attractions, shopping, and world-class restaurants. Sydney is also blessed with having some truly beautiful beaches right near the city center – which is perfect if you are short on time and want to experience them.
From Sydney, it’s only a short 1 hour plane journey to either Melbourne (to the south), or Brisbane (to the north).
Melbourne holds the title as being the cultural centre of Australia. Great shopping, cafe’s, and dining are all to be had here. Not far out of Melbourne you can also take in the world-renowned Great Ocean Road for some serious scenic road-trip.
Brisbane is the capital city of Queensland and is a great place to explore all that this State has to offer. Nearby you will find the regions known as the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. These are beach-side towns/cities that are definitely worth a visit all-year round. Worth recommending is a trip to the Far North region of Queensland – where you can take in the natural beauty of the Great Barrier Reef.
